RIYADH — There are 4,984 teachers in private universities and colleges in the Kingdom, of whom 3,854 are expatriates representing about 77 percent, local Arabic daily Al-Watan reported on Tuesday quoting a statistical report.

The report said there are 1,130 Saudi men and women teachers in these universities and colleges.

It said there are 63,211 Saudi male and female students in private universities and colleges against 19,613 expatriates.

Giving a breakdown of the number of teachers, the report said there are 439 Saudi men and 691 women teachers in private universities and colleges against 2,221 expatriate men and 1,633 women.

It said the admission of students in private universities and colleges last year dropped by about 5.6 percent while this ratio was 6.6 percent the previous year.

According to the report, there are 11 private universities and 22 private colleges in various parts of the Kingdom.

It said there are no private universities in the Eastern Province, Hafr Al-Batin, Buraidah, Onaiza, Asir, Najran and Al-Baha. There are no private colleges in Al-Ahsa and Hail.
